Arrival

Arrival is from 4 pm, and departure is by 10 am.

We’ll meet you on arrival and take you to your lodge to show you the ropes and talk about the area. Just ring the bell at the main house when you get here.

Facilities

Wifi

We’re in a rural area with poor internet connectivity, so our lodges do not have wifi, but the mobile phone towers in the area give most guests a good 4G signal.

Parking

Free parking for one vehicle is available to the rear of each lodge on the drive. If you’re arriving in more than one vehicle or a particularly large one, you may have to park outside the gate.

Beach access

There is a woodland hill path on the property for accessing the loch. The path involves about 100 stone steps down and is quite steep and narrow in some places. Guests should be confident on this type of terrain and will need good trail shoes/boots and appropriate outdoor wear to use the path. Access is at guests’ own risk, and children must be accompanied by adults at all times. At the beach, you can have a walk, take in the view or fish from the shores.

Fires and barbecues

We take fire safety seriously and are doing our best to deter wildfires and litter. Therefore, we do not allow open fires to be lit or firepits to be used on the property at any time for any reason (this includes on the beach, which is part of the property). We do provide simple barbecues that guests may use to cook outside and away from the lodges. Barbecues may be used in designated areas only. Guests are asked to bring their own charcoal.

Food and groceries

The lodges are self-catering, so you’ll need to bring supplies for preparing meals, especially if you’re staying with us before Easter, when many local restaurants and pubs are either shut entirely or maintain shorter business hours.

ASDA or Tesco online will deliver to the lodges.

Guests travelling from the south can find Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi and a Marks & Spencer Foodhall in Fort William (about 45 minutes’ drive from our location). Guests travelling from the north will probably want to buy their provisions in Inverness (about an hour’s drive from our location) in Morrisons, Tesco or Aldi.

Pets

We are dog friendly, so up to a maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome to come along on holiday with you.

A small additional fee of £25.00 per pet is charged.

All we ask is that your pet is kept on a lead whilst on site and is never left unattended in the lodge.

Location

Great Glen Lodges, Kilfinnan, can be found on the northwest shore of Loch Lochy, in the heart of the Great Glen. We are 26 miles from Fort William and 10 Miles from Loch Ness & Fort Augustus.

Our postcode is PH34 4EB. Enter ‘Great Glen Lodges, Kilfinnan, PH34 4EB’ into your GPS/Sat Nav or online map service to get here. (See How to Reach Us for more detailed directions and travel information.)

Note that some GPS/Sat Navs might tell you that you have reached your destination when you get to Kilfinnan Farm. We’re a bit further on from the farm, however. Just carry on up the hill and along the track a little way until you reach the Great Glen Lodges sign at the top of the road.

Please also be aware that the last quarter-mile or so is an unadopted rough-track forest road. Though it gets resurfaced each year, it can sometimes be quite bumpy, so a bit of care needs to be taken. A normal car can easily negotiate the track, but you’ll want to drive slowly (5–10 mph) and not rush things.
